The question has to be asked isn't lieing just a variation on the hunting instinct, a method of survival in a modern world? Women frequently moan about being lied to by the male of the species but aren't women just as devious in their own way, manipulation by emotion rather then outright lieing per se ? Men lie in a more basic form but women turn on the water works or fake arousal to meet their own ends...come on dont we all know girls that a blow job can reap wonderful rewards..isn't that in it's own way lieing? an individual will believe even the most blatant of lies if it serves their own ends at the time. However you may express it..path of least resistance whatever lieing is a part of human psychology towards survival. As with the animal kingdom if your no good at hunting you starve, if your no good at lieing the social equivilent awaits....
