: : "All logic has to start with such base axioms." : : One cannot use this to argue for the existence of God because the axioms mentioned above must be as obvious as 1+1=2. One cannot use the bible as axiom nor can one use the "something has to start the universe and time....therefore there must be a God" as axiom. This is because there are so many things we humans do not know about the universe and existence. By saying that something must have created the universe is like saying, "I know everything there is to know and the creator theory is the only plausible one." Sounds very arrogant and self-dillusional to me! : To me as well. : The only point I was making concerned how Christianity founded its own belief system. : Without a fundamental truth to believe in, there is no truth to believe in. : If that is true, what does a religion found a base upon? : You could say: : Truth. : Well, that's subjective. : Facts. : Based on whose testimony? And when? And what? : Personality. : That's subjective. Also based on politics and not necessarily on reasoning. : Deity. : How do we determine that? : Reason. : Greeks made that attempt and it didn't work out too well for them in their society of intellectualism, but moral turpetude. : So what could it be? : See, Christianity bases itself on the Bible. That is our assumed truth. We have to assume something. To assume nothing is ridiculous. Because of that, we have a foundation upon which to operate. Other religions have other texts.
