El Hombre De La Bolsa
(The Man With The Bag)
When I was about 6
years old, I would not eat any vegetables, so my mother came up
with some "lies" to try to persuade me to. There was this old
homeless man who would walk through our neighborhood every morning with
a big green bag on his shoulder. My mom used to call him "el
hombre de la bolsa." I am Uruguayan. She used to tell
me that if I didn't eat my vegetables, that "el hombre de la bolsa"
would come and get me, and put me in his bag! He would take me away!
That was what he did for a living
